The new services launched for NGN inevitably raise new billing tasks to be accomplished. At what networking phase the billing tasks should be taking into consideration and how is this to be done?

There is no doubt that expanding scope of services rendering in NGN forms new billing requirements. First of all it means that legacy billing and customer care system is to be upgraded to provide the higher level of convergence and scalability. It should be mentioned that not every contemporary B&CC systems meet all the requirements of NGN-related services. Deciding on a B&CC system one should pinpoint scalability and flexibility of the system. Thus, service providers will be able to save expenses when rolling out new services and avoid the replacement of legacy billing platform with a new one.

It's better to put new billing tasks into effect early in the NGN development process. Having chosen the equipment, one should check its compatibility with the deployed B&CC system on the protocol level, implement new tariff schemes, and provide network equipment management.
